The SafetyMARK scheme is recognised by a wide range of organisations and it is the only scheme helping to benchmark safety standards in schools, nationwide. The aim of the SafetyMARK scheme is to help all schools achieve high levels of health & safety compliance. This is what we, at In House Safety, are passionate about.
The SafetyMARK process will take your school from its current level of safety compliance to a level of safety excellence. We provide schools with a really practical plan on how to achieve this and the support required to understand and implement it.
Is SafetyMARK for my school?
The reasons for joining the SafetyMARK scheme are many and varied. Each school is likely to have different motivations depending upon its own circumstances, but their common goal is to improve and maintain high standards of health and safety within their schools. Whether your school is currently operating at a high or low levels of compliance an external verification of your current standards will help to identify if improvements can be made. Especially if there have been changing circumstances within your school which may have impacted on your standards.
We offer a helping hand and a plan. In each specific case, In House Safety via the SafetyMARK scheme provides the framework and resources to improve your school safety management.
The benefits of being a SafetyMARK member?
SafetyMARK members receive an array of benefits to help them manage, improve and demonstrate health and safety compliance within their schools.
Competent safety advice and support is available to all members at no extra fee for the duration of their membership, along with fantastic resources in the members area and Resource Library.
Our advisors are highly qualified safety practitioners with years of experience helping schools with health and safety. Schools have access to advice from Chartered Safety and Health Practitioners throughout the duration of their membership. If you find that you need help implementing one of our recommendations or you have any safety queries that might arise, you can speak to us to obtain impartial, practical, competent advice.
We might provide telephone or email advice or we might send you documentation or pro formas to help you clarify or deal with your issue. Throughout your membership, you will have the peace of mind that help is on the end of the phone from people that know and understand safety in schools.
Members can also access lots of additional services on offer from In House Safety and their sister companies at preferential rates. This includes access to public virtual training course and eLearning packages provided by iHasco.
Finally, the SafetyMARK itself is a fabulous way to provide reassurance to all school stakeholders (staff, pupils, parents and governors) that standards are excellent. Of course, this also provides benefits by way of positive publicity and helping to reduce insurance premiums.
How does the SafetyMARK Scheme work?
Once you have registered with us and we have determined the SafetyMARK grade which suits your school or organisation, we will send you some information to help you prepare for the on-site safety audit. We will then visit to carry out the audit on school premises and determine whether you are compliant with safety regulations in schools and if you meet the SafetyMARK standard. You will then receive the SafetyMARK award and/or guidance on how to improve your safety management.
Schools can work towards the award over a two year period, providing evidence of their improvements, and will receive the award as soon as they meet the standard. The award is then valid for as long as is left of the two year period.
